Robert Nesta Marley, OM (born 6 February 1945 – died 11 May 1981) was a Jamaican singer-songwriter, musician and guitarist who achieved international fame and acclaim, blending mostly reggae, ska and rocksteady in his compositions. In 1963 he created the group The Wailers along with Peter Tosh and Bunny Wailer. After the departure of Tosh and Wailer he performed for much of his career as Bob Marley & The Wailers, forging a distinctive songwriting and vocal style that would later resonate with audiences worldwide. Married to Rita Marley.
