Physicist, senior reseach assistant at Istituto Nazionale di Ricerca Metrologica (INRIM) in Torino, he is an expert in time&frequency metrology, atomic frequency standard, atom laser cooling, high precison spectroscopy, time and frequency transfer by optical fibres. His research group implemented the first high accuracy atomic clock in Italy; a new-generation atomic clock based on laser cooled Ytterbium (the first high accurate optical clock in Italy and the first Yb clock in Europe); and a 2.000 km fibre infrastructure for time and frequency transfer - the second in the world for extension.
The latter is the best facility to disseminate the INRIM atomic clocks signals, for scientific and industrial users. We connect Turin to Milan, Bologna, Florence, Rome, Naples and Matera.
He is responsible for several funded research projects, national and European. Since 2015 he is the chair of the fiber link group within the International Bodies of the Meter Convention.
