Marine Life

Marine life, life in the sea or ocean life, is made up of plants, animals and other organisms that live in the salty water of the seas and oceans, or the brackish water of the coastal estuaries. In total, there are 230,000 documented marine species, including more than 16,000 fish species, and it has been estimated that nearly two million marine species have yet to be documented.

Marine species range in size from microscopic, which can be as small as 0.02 microns, to large cetaceans, which in the case of the blue whale reach up to 33 m in length, being the largest animal.
